"When Calls the Heart" actor Mamie Laverock has opened her eyes since falling from a hospital balcony on May 11, her mother is revealing.
"Mamie just opened her eyes," her mother Nicole Rockmann told the Los Angeles Times Thursday, although she is still on life support.
"Let's just hope this is the turnaround and she's going to get through this now," she continued: "I couldn't be happier that people reached out and cared. The story will be told."
Laverock "was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories," Laverock's parents wrote on a GoFundMe page set up for the actress last month. "She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on life support. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time."
At the time, they didn't reveal the hospital location.

Rockmann told the L.A. Times her daughter was being treated at St. Paul's Hospital when the fall "shattered" her body.
"This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability," Laverock's mom continued, emphasizing that the fall was not "intended" nor was it a suicide attempt.
The actress' family is moving forward with legal action for negligence, per Rockmann. "We have a case. All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It’s unbelievable that she’s with us."

Ann Gibbon, a spokesperson for Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul's Hospital, confirmed to the L.A. Times that "an incident happened" at the hospital but did not elaborate on the specifics.
"In cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety," Gibbon said. "Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery."

Laverock, best known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan on the Hallmark Channel romantic drama, had been in "intensive treatment for the past two weeks" following a May 11 hospitalization in Winnipeg, Canada, for an undisclosed "medical emergency," per Laverock's GoFundMe. She was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Vancouver.

The actress first appeared on "When Calls the Heart" during the series' first season in 2014, according to her IMDb page. Following an eight-season hiatus, she returned for Season 10 in 2023.
