Tom Holland's glimpse into his romance with Zendaya will have fans feeling euphoric.
While the pair have largely kept their relationship private over the years, the Crowded Room actor recently gave rare insight into why he and the Euphoria star have made an effort to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight.
"Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible," Tom told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published June 14. "We don't think that we owe it to anyone, it's our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."
That's not to say they're not supportive of each other's professional endeavors, as he pointed out that they have attended events together. That is, when their schedules allow it. As for why Zendaya was absent from the New York premiere of Tom's new Apple TV+ series earlier this month?
"She's visiting her grandma," he explained. "We're two very busy people, and we're on the opposite sides of the world at this present time, so she couldn't come."
And though the 27-year-old didn't reveal too much more about their relationship, he did share that, as an avid golfer himself, he and Zendaya sometimes hit the course together.
"I've given her a few lessons," he explained. "She's very naturally talented, a real athlete, so she picked it up really quickly."
While Tom and Zendaya didn't spark romance rumors until 2021, they were no stranger to crushing on one another onscreen in the Spider-Man films, where the pair play Peter Parker and MJ.
And Tom made it clear to The Hollywood Reporter that he's her no. 1 fan onscreen and off.
"She's wonderful to work with," Tom gushed in the June 14 video accompanying the profile. "She's arguably the most talented person I've ever met. She's amazing."
In fact, he also shared his first impression of the Dune star after seeing her audition for 2016's Spider-Man: Homecoming, noting, "I was so blown away by how unique her performance was."
"And also just so interested," he continued, "in the fact that as soon as she left the room, there was a unanimous decision that she was our MJ."
For Tom, it was a decision that ultimately worked out quite well for him—a fact he is happy to concede. With a cheeky smile, he added, "And obviously I'm very happy that she came in and tested that day. I'm sure you can guess why."
